Worldview Timeline

  • 500 BCE

    Classical Worldview

The Classical Worldview went from 500 B.C. to 500 A.D. (ish). The painting shown is the one that I think best describes the Classical Worldview. It's the one that you can see on the Humanities homepage, and I thought that the philosophers that you can see in the painting made it the one that fits best with this worldview.

    Medieval Worldview

The Medieval Worldview went from 500 A.D. to 1500 A.D. (ish). I thought that this painting matched with the Medieval Worldview really well. It still has the similar feel to the Classical Worldview, but you can see that it's a little more religious, which was a big part of the Medieval Worldview.
  • 1300

    Renaissance Worldview

The Renaissance Worldview went from 1300 A.D. to 1700 A.D. (ish). This painting, the Mona Lisa, I feel matches with this worldview best, mostly because of the person who painted it. Leonardo da Vinci is known by many as a true "Renaissance Man".
  • Enlightenment Worldview

The Enlightenment Worldview went from 1650 A.D. to 1800 A.D. (ish). This painting matches very well with what the Enlightenment Worldview was all about. The single philosopher talking to a multitude of people shows that this worldview was a little more split up, unlike some of the others.
  • Romantic Worldview

The Romantic Worldview went from1780 A.D. to 1850 A.D. (ish). This worldview seems to me to be a lot about adventure, so I thought that this piece of art would go along with it well. This painting shows more wonder, and therefore emotion, which was a big part of the Romantic Worldview.
  • Victorian Worldview

The Victorian Worldview went from 1830 A.D. to 1900 A.D. (ish). Queen Victoria was a massive part of the Victorian Worldview. In fact, that's why it is called the Victorian Worldview.
  • Modern Worldview

The Modern Worldview went from 1900 A.D. to 1970 A.D. (ish). The Modern Worldview was a time that helped bring to light things that are essential to our every day lives. I found favor in this painting because it helps to show what we were learning and advancing in at that time.
  • Post Modern Worldview

The Post Modern Worldview went from 1960 A.D. to 2000 A.D. (ish). From class and the examples of art from the Post Modern Worldview, I was able to find the most destructive-looking painting. This time was probably a really busy time, with innovations in technology, so I thought that something crazy would fit the part. This painting also shows the abstract opinions of the people that lived in that worldview.
  • Post Postmodern Worldview

The Post Postmodern Worldview goes from 2000 A.D. (ish) to the present day. This painting is a little easier going than the painting for the Post Modern Worldview. I think that it goes well with this time period because it's complex, but it's easier to understand, and you can make so much from it. The time period that we are in now is a lot like that.
