    Assassination of Franz Ferdinand
    Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated by a Serbian nationalist in Sarajevo. They were checking up on some troops and were shot as they were leaving town. Their assassin was a member of the Black Hand, which was a secret military society in Serbia.

    The Battle of Tennenburg
    The Russians marched into Prussia on their way to Germany. However, they got stuck there and it was difficult to send supplies to them. Germany took advantage of this and quickly surrounded the Russian army. They slaughtered the men, and took 125,000 people prisoner.

    At the start of the war, Germany is surrounded by France and Russia, so they decide to quickly invade France to try to knock them out. It started well, but the French and British soldiers eventually drove off the German army.

    The longest battle on World War One. It was fought between the French and the German Forces. The Germans attacked in an attempt to 'bleed the French dry'. Though the battle did in fact last for nine months, nobody really won. The Germans lost 430,00 men and the French lost a whopping 540,000

    A large naval battle between Britain and Germany. Admiral Beatty lured the German Navy into a trap. Although his idea worked, the German Navy retreated as they were getting hammered, and Beatty decided not to follow them.

    This battle was on of the bloodiest of all of the battles of World War One. The Germans were attempting to push forward against the French and British soldiers. No man's land became a complete mess, pocketed with large holes and covered in thick, slippery mud. In all, 420,000 British soldiers, 200,000 French soldiers, and 500,000 German solders were killed in the battle. Only 25 miles were gained.

    The Germans began to make aeroplane raids on London. They hoped that the British air force would take their planes back to defend London. People got really scared from this.

    The Russians signed a treaty with Germany that forced them to give up Poland, Ukraine, and other regions. They were also forced to quit propaganda that was directed towards Germany. They then had to pay a whopping three hundred million roubles in exchange for their prisoner's of war.

    The Battle of Amiens was a victory for the Allies. They attacked with a huge force and stomped the German resistance. This was one of the last battles in the war and the final factor that convinced Germany that the war was unobtainable.
