Elie and The Beadle (Moshe)
On december 30 1941, Elie and Moshe meet for the first time. Moshe is really quite, and is respected by everyone. Elie described Moshe as awkward but has dreamy eyes. -
Jewish community
The leaders of the Jewish community are arrested on the seventh day of Passover. -
Taken away privlages
The Jewish people are no longer allowed to own any valuables and are stripped of their belongings. -
Moving
Elie and his family are moved out of the ghetto on one of the transports. -
Separated
When they arrive at the camp, families are separated and Elie and his father must leave Elie's mom and sisters. -
Doctor
Elie meets hia Dr. Mengele. -

At Buna, they are given showers, new clothes, and are assigned to a tent. All of the men go through a medical checkup. -
Beaten
Elie is beaten for getting in Idek's way.
Elie sees Idek with a girl and is whipped. -
Healing foot
Eliezer’s foot swells until he needs surgery.
While he’s recovering from surgery, the camp is evacuated because the Russians are on the way. Everyone is afraid that those who stay behind in the camp at the hospital will be executed, Eliezer leaves with those being evacuated, even though his foot is still healing. -

Elie and his father are put into different blocks A selection takes place and Elie's father does not pass, so he gives Elie his knife and spoon Elie's father passes second selection

On this day, more than 7,000 Jews were liberated. -
Evacuate
The red army approaches Buna, so the Jewish are forced to evacuate. Last night in Buna. The death march begins -
Strength
Elie whitnesses a son leaving behind his own dad. As his father gets sicker and weaker, Eliezer’s strength and will are tested. He keeps his father alive until they arrive at the next camp, Buchenwald. Even there, he keeps him alive for several days. -
Death
SS officer is calling Eliezer’s name.
When Eliezer awakens in the morning, his father’s body is gone. Eliezer feels guilty – but he also feels relieved that his father is dead, and free, at last, and he doesn't have to watch after his fathers body. -
Liberated
Wiesel is liberated a few months after his father dies, the first thing he does is eat like crazy. He then gets food poisoning and almost dies. He says he has never forgotten the look in his eyes that day. -
Wiesel after he was free
After Wiesel was liberated he became sick with intestinal problems and spent several days in a hospital. While hospitalized, he wrote the outline for a book describing his experiences during the Holocaust. -
Orphans
When Wiesel was released from the hospital, he had no family to return to. He joined a group of 400 orphan children being taken to France.
