    “Canadian pilots, like Billy Bishop, helped to advance Canada's reputation as a reputable air force in WWI. Canada did not have its own air force until the final months of the war” Billy Bishop assisted in improving Canada's Air Force reputation during World War I. Besides the use of flight in war being dangerous, it still led to a large technological advancement in Canada's Armed forces.

    Little progress was made prior to the French-Canadian Regiment. Before it came into existence, French-Canadians weren't treated fairly but soon were given an equal/fair chance. “they were often alienated and not promoted within the armed forces. After the French-Canadian Regiment, the 22nd Battalion, was formed, many French-Canadian soldiers could finally be promoted to higher ranks.“

    Francis Pegahmagabow and First Nations: Battle at Ypres
    The Germans introduced poison gas at the second battle of Ypres and "Peggy" survived but almost half of the battalion died in only 3 days of battle. The First Nations weren't thought to be beneficial to the war but after the battle the First Nations were the ones who survived amongst all.

    Women entered the workforce because the men were away. A woman's job as a caretaker became a lot more important because they were encouraged to take on the roles that were normally a mans job. Woman earned more rights as WW1 progressed. "Many women gained some financial independence and sense of social worth through their WWI labour force participation."

    Discrimination between the blacks and the whites didn't necessarily stop when important things were accomplished during war. “Neither my men nor myself would care to sleep alongside them, or to eat with them, especially in warm weather.” this was even after they won the battle of Vimy Ridge, one of Canada's greatest victories in WW1.

    Conscription
    After a battle, the army needed more reinforcements and no one had been willing to enlist into the military because it was no longer seen as a glorifying thing. Lt. Col. Borden. decided to enact the Military Service act and it forced all men aged 20-45 to join the army. When Borden did this it caused and out rage, it resulted in a division between the Canadians and French-Canadians and caused riots.

    It was sought that women were fragile creatures who didn't know better than being caretakers for there families but when images were released people began to realise how hard working they are, it helped change the notion towards women being "fragile, helpless creatures".

    The war ended in late fall of 1918, countries began signing armistice agreements one by one. Germany being the last one to sign the armistice on November 11, 1918. Germany suffered under punishment with large economic reparations loss of territories and they received a strict limit on the rights to develop militarily.

    Insulin is discovered
    Insulin was discovered by Frederick Banting. After being tested on dogs, then later tested on a young boy whos life was saved because of it. Its now used for diabetes "and by fall they had isolated material from pancreas extracts that dramatically prolonged the lives of dogs made diabetic by removal of the pancreas.
