Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were in Austro-Hungarian to visit and look around on June 28, 1914. A group named “Black Hand” grouped together and killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. The assassination of Franz Ferdinand led to the beginning of WWI.

He’s proud of himself for this, but he also is getting tired of the weather there, and he misses home.

    World War I ended on November 11, 1918. Germany signed an armistice which is an agreement to peace and to stop fighting. So the Armistice was signed and brought the war to an end. And now November 11 is a holiday called “Veterans day.” There were different names for WWI after it ended. It was called World War I originally, but it can also be called “The War to End All Wars”, “The War of Nations”, and “The Great War.”
