    Assassination of Franz Ferdinand
    Franz Ferdinand was the heir to the Austria-Hungary thrown, but was assassinated right after being in the thrown. One reason he was assassinated was because the Serbian rebels wanted their own country and thought that maybe if they killed the future leader, they could get that. Even though Ferdinand was trying to make the country altogether more powerful as a whole.

    Austria-Hungary declared war a month after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. They declared war on Serbia because rebels from Serbia assassinated him in order to prove a point, to keep themselves safe, apparently.

    This was the battle that was fought between Russia and Germany. The battle took place from August 26th to the 30th, which ended up resulting in almost complete destruction of the Russian Second Army. Not only that, but the captain of the army committed suicide, General Alexander Samsonov.

    The Battle of Masurian Lake. It was a German offensive on the Eastern Front during WW1. This was the second time Germany beat Russia's army. The first defeat was at the battle of Tedensburg.
