    The Lusitania was a British passenger liner that carried about 1198 persons on a trip on May 7, 1915. A German U-boat sank the Lusitania killing 128 American tourists. Because of this, public opinion turned against Germany and the Central Powers

  • Battle of The Somme

    First battle began in July and lasted until mid-November— The British suffered massive casualties, After it was over casualties reached 1.2 million, and only 7 miles of ground were gained. Armies fought for mere yards of grounds, lasted for three years.

  • Treaty of Versailles

    This treaty established nine new nations which included, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Yugoslavia. Broke up Austria-Hungarian Empire and Ottoman Empire. Barred Germany from maintaining an army, requiring them to give Alsace-Lorraine back to France, and forced them to pay $33 billion in reparations to the Allies.
