Dred Scott had been a slave in Missouri. His owner took him to places where slavery was illegal. Later, his master died and he was sued for freedom.

John Brown wanted to inspire slaves to fight for freedom. He stole and captured weapons from Harpers Ferry. Later, he was hanged for this rebellion act.

Lincoln is elected president in 1860. During his presidency, he opposed the expansion of slavery. Lincoln beats Douglas in the North when he got elected.
