    William Barker enlisted in the Canadian Mounted Rifles at the age of 20. Barker serves over a year in the Western front. He is later transferred to a different military division.

    The sinking of the Lusitania causes Germany to suspend submarine warfare. The suspension keeps the United States out of the war. Germans are not able to stop American supplies from reaching France and Britain.

    Barker was transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. He was intended to be a mechanic for the Corps.He would soon become a pilot.

    He began operating as an observer and did not kill anyone. He would soon pile up 50 victories as a pilot. He was a pilot of a B.E.2d.

    Barker received pilot training in England. He was able to fly solo after 55 minutes of air tuition. He was awarded his pilot's certificate.

    Germany decides to continue Unrestricted submarine warfare in the European seas. When the United States find out that Germany continued their unrestricted warfare, they enter the war. This act causes the defeat of Germany at the end of the war.

    Congress declares war in Germany. The United States enters World War I. The United States sides with France and Britain in the war.

    Back in the Western Front
    Within a month of getting his pilot certificate, he was back on the western front. He piloted a R.E.8 on the western front. He was sent back to England after getting shot by anti-aircraft fire.

    During his time recovering from his injury Barker was a flight instructor. After he recovered he returned to France. He returned to the Italian Front.

    While serving in the Air forces Barker had 46 victories in his B6313 aircraft. He was recognized for his victories in the western front. His aircraft was the single most successful fighter aircraft of the war until its retirement.

    Barker returns to England. He was given command of the Hounslow flight school. Before taking command he decided to temporarily fly over the Western Front.

    Barker was flying solo and was suddenly attacked by 15 German aircrafts. He took down 4 aircrafts and drove the others away, but he was shot 3 times and crashed behind Allied lines.

    German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm surrenders. German hope for victory is lost. Germany soon sign the Treaty of Versailles, which states that Germany will have to pay reparations for the war.
