The Columbine High School Massacre happened on April 20,1999 in Littleton, Colorado. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were both students at Columbine. They met in middle school and became good friends, but by high school they could never fit in with any of the other kids and were often picked on by athletes and other students. Birth
I was born on September 25, 1999 in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. My mother's name is Mesale Solomon, and my father is Ron Finnell. I was born at around 10:30 at night, and my mom and dad left for the hospital, to go through 21 hours of labor. -
9/11
On September Eleventh, 2001 Osama Bin Laden organised a series of attacks. He attacked the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. These acts started a war on terror. Presindent Bush deployed troops into Afghanistan to find those responsible. I am effected by 9/11 because of the uplifted security measures that are taken in airports. -
Little Brother Born
My litte brother Gabriel was born on September 29, 2002. He was born in the same hospital as me, Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta Georgia. My mom went into labor at my third birthday party. -
Parents Divorced
My parents decided to get a divorce because my mom was doing all the work. I didnt know how to feel, but I definetly was not sad. Since I was so young at the time, I never felt affected. We moved from Georgia after the divorce. Now I live back in Georgia and see my dad every other weekend. -
President Obama Elected
On Tuesday November 4, 2008 Barack Obama was elected U.S. President. He won over his opponent John McCain, he had 338 votes, and John McCain had only 156. President Obama was the first African American President. I am proud to see that an African Anerican was able to recieve such an honor. -
Surgery on My Leg
On February 16, 2011 I had surgery on my leg. The operation was to remove a tumor located on my left femur. I was not nervous because I had faced a similar operation before on the same leg. Thankfully, everything went ok when it was over, but I was on cruthces for 6 weeks. -
Osama Bin Laden Killed
Osama Bin Laden was killed on May 2, 2011. Four American helicopters carrying 79 comandos departed from a U.S. military base in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. It was 1 A.M. when the first Black Hawk helicopter reached Bin Laden's Pakistani compound, but the Navy SEALS were greeted by a vortex caused by warm air, and the Black Hawk lost a tail-roder. Qualified for Duke Tip
On October 13, 2012 i qualified for the Duke Tip Seventh Grade Talent Search Program. Duke Tip is an organization that allows students to take the SAT or ACT and measures what they know compared to gifted students. It may sound hard but taking one of these standardized tests gives students experience for the future. Unfortunately I was sick on the day of my scheduled SAT. I will be taking the SAT on January 26,2012. This acceptance was convenient since Duke is my college of choice. -
Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy lasted 13 days killing over 100 people. Sandy especially targeted New York and New Jersey, leaving thousands homeless. Billions of dollars were needed to pay for the damages. 8 million houses were left without power. My mom was on a business trip in New Jersey and I have family there so I was worried.
