    The Louisiana Purchase was the huge step for the Americans to expand west. America bought this land for 3 cents per acre, which amounted to 15 million dollars total. It was owned by the French first, then sold to the US.

    This was Americans first expedition across the western portion of the US. The expedition started in St. Louis. It was commissioned by Thomas Jefferson.

    The field was lead by army volunteers. The primary objective was to explore new land. It ened in 1806 back in St. Louis to report their findings to Thomas Jefferson.

    When the US took over Florida, it lead to the Idian Removal Act. This was when the US soldiers forced the Cherokee's out of their homes. The Cherokee's had no more home.

    After the Indian Removal Act the Cherokee's needed a place to go. The Americans lead them from Florida to Texas. This was one of the most sad times in history.

    There were many Cherokee's that died from the cold and from hunger. It was a hard time for the Cherokee's. On the upside, they got lots of land in the south.

    The Mexican American War was a war between Mexico and America. They were fighting for Texas. The war was followed by the 1845 annexation of Texas.

    The transcontinental railroad was the first railroad of the US. It stretched 1,907 miles. It was originally known as the Pacific Railroad. It opened through on May 10th.
