In 1786, the legislature of GA needed to find a more central capital. Louisville was made on 1,000 acres and named after King Louis XVI of France. It was 1796 when the capital was finished.

On Feb 21st, 1796, citzens had found out about the Yazoo Land Fraud and went into the capital of GA (Louisville at the time) and got the papers selling the land, and burned them on the steps of the capital building.

In 1804, the General Assembly voted to change the capital of GA again to Baldwin County on 3,240 acres. They named it Milledgeville in honor of Governor John Milledge.

The Southern Baptist Convention was formed in 1845 by southern baptists who had left the American Baptist Union. They formed the SBC because the American Baptist Union would not allow slave owners to be missionaries.
