Original 13 Colonies

U.S. got the land because we fought in the Revolutionary War also Military Conquest. The Decloration of Independence is a Statement of the 2nd Continental Congress that definded the Colonist rights,Out lined their complaints against Gret Britain, and declared the colonies Indepedence. It lasted 9 years 1774-1783. It weekend the U.S. economy.

Northwest Territory

The U.S. obtained the land because they created the Northwest Territory. In this Territory 5 states were created. Michigan,Ohio,Wisconsin,Illinos,and Indiana.To become a state the territory had to have a Bill of Rights, Public Education, and there shall be no Slavery in the territory.

Louisiana Purchase

We obtained the land because we bought it. We bought the land from Napoleon. The Mississippi River and New Orleans are so important because it helped with trade and the economy went up. Thomas Jefferson was credited with ppurchising the land and he spent $15 million on the purchase. The land expanded the U.S. and expanded "the empire of Liberty"

Adams-Onis Treaty

Southners were upset because Seminole Indians from Flrordia were angered by raids. Seminole also aided runaway salves. President Monroe sent Andrew Jackson to secure the border. His actions were unconstitutional because he invaded Florida to capture Seminole radiers and the people couldn't believe he did that. U.S. and Spain agreed on the Adams-Onis Treaty. Spain gave the U.S. Easr Flordia and the U.S. gave up its claims to rexas.

Manifest Destiny

They believed that nothing could stop this growth from taking place.They believed that God gave them the right to expand so they could spread religious values.

U.S didn't allow the union to become a state because Texas had slaves and if they became a state the would make slavery states and make slaver allowed so if they become a state they culd expand slavery.

Annex means to take control of land and incorporate into a cpuntry, state etc. Americans moved to texas becuause the Mex.Gov promised cheap land, and Slavery. Mex.Gov took away legal rights and made them become Mexican citizens, obey Mexican laws, and support the Roman Catholic Church. he also limited their immagrations and said no more Slavery.An event surrounding Texas is Americans moving to texas and not following the rules. Problems were Mexico had a small population and relied on Farming.

Oregon Territory

Great Britan shared Control of the Oregon. The U.S. was trying to avoid another War. Washington and Oregon were created out of the Oregon Territory.

Mexican cession

The Mexican governtment continued to reject the Texas and U.S. claim that the Rio Grande marked the southern border of Texas, arguing that the real southern border lay along the Nueces River farther North. The Treat of Guadalupe.Californa, avada, and Utah used Most of Arizona and New Mexico to Increase the size by almost 25%

Gadsden Purchase

U.S. and Spain were trying to avoid slave states. They agreed to Purchase land so they could be used for railroads. The U.S. payed $10 million dollars and created Arizona and New Mwxico.Problems with Transportation were fixed. The U.S, kept moving West.
