    Napolean Bonaparte at first was not going to sell the Louisiana Territory but France started running out of money, so when Jefferson offered to buy New Orleans Napolean offered the whole Louisiana Territory for 15 million. That is 3 cents per acre. The Louisiana Territory doubled the current size of the U.S.

    Lewis and Clark were asked by President Thomas Jefferson to explore the Lousiana Purchase. When Lewis and Clark visited a native tribe Sacagawea as their guide.

    In 1821 O'donoju signed the treaty of Cordoba, declaring the independence of Mexico from Spain. This is important because later the U.S. won the war against Mexico and gain the Alta California and the Santa Fe Nuevo Mexico territories which led to the California Gold Rush.

    Jackson a common southern boy felt the election was stolen from him because the people voted him but the rich white men from the House of Representatives voted Quincy. This was important because it later led to the Jackson becoming president and because he became president the Indian Removal act happened.

    The Indian Removal Act was passed by Andrew Jackson and he was known as an Indian fighter. One of the Indian tribe leaders saved Jackson's life in battle and still Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act. That tribe leader said if he knew this was going to happen he would have done things differnetly.

    The Battle of the Alamo sarted because texans wanted freedom from Mexico and started rebelling against Mexico. Mexico soon surrounded San Antonio and began their seige of the Alamo.

    The Battle of the Alamo lasted 13 days and at the end only 5 Texans survived. This is important because that later led to the U.S. getting Texas and moving farther westward.

    The Texans killed over half of the Mexican army in 18 minutes. Santa Anna, a mexican polititian, was forced to sign a treaty granting Texas it's freedom. It became the Lone Star Republic.

    The first major wagon train left from Elm Grove, Missori with Dr. Elliot White, a Presbyterian missionary, as their guide. This is important because it got more people to Oregon and also alot of people died on the trail. It was a very difficult trail to travel.

    Polk was elected President in 1844 after Andrew Jackson. He ran against Whig Henry Clay in a close vote.

    On December 29, 1845 the U.S. officially claimed texas a U.S. state. This later lead to the Mexican American War because the U.S. thought they could just pass a law allowing tem to take Mexico's land like they did with they Indians but the Mexicans didn't except this.

    The war with Mexico began because the U.S. thought they could just take Mexico's land and Mexico did not like that so they went to war over the Alta California and Santa Fe de Nuevo Mexico territories.

    Britain did not want to go to war so the U.S. and Britain made an agreement to split Oregon at the 49th parallel. This is important because it would later lead to the Oregon Trail and become modernday Oregon ans parts of Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

    The U.S. wanted to just take the land that Mexico owned so Mexico and the U.S. got into a war. The war ended when the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. A couple days after the U.S. won the war they found gold.

    The Gadsen Purchase was a treaty between the U.S. and Mexico signed by James Gadsen for what would later be parts of Arizona and New Mexico.

    The Pony Express was how people got letters to each other. People would give letters to the riders and they would ride their horse to a check point then get on another horse and do this 3 or 4 times then finally arrive at the destination.
