Proclamation of 1763
The proclamation of 1763 restricted americans from going past the appilation mountains for exploring. It was put into place in 1763. The importance of this is that it dared the americans to explore on and go further west. -
Northwest Territory
The Northwest territory was a territory which consisted of modern day Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. This is important because it showed that there is much more land west and we have to keep pushing on. It took place in 1787 -
Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was bought from france in 1803 it consisted of modern day Montana, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Indiana, and Louisiana. -
Red River Basin
The Red River Basin was bought from France in 1818 and it part of current day Canada, North Dakota, and Minnisota. It is important because it helped set up a straight border with Canada.

West and East Florida
Florida was separated into 2 parts western and eastern florida in 1819 and owned by spain. Then the U.S took them together when Louisiana Purchase took place. -
Mexican Cession
The Mexican Cession of 1819 is part of the lower section of current day Lousiana. It was acquired when colonists ceased Mexico. -
Webster-Ashburton Treaty
The Webester-Ashburton Treaty happaned in 1842 and is part of current day maine and canada. It was bought from france to expand as much north as possible. -
Texas Annexation
The Texas annexation took place in 1845 after a long fought battle with Mexico the U.S got acess to current day Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. -
Oregon Territory
The Orgeon Territory was bought in 1846 and was aquired by treaty from Great Britain. It was arguably the most important western movement. -
Gadsden Purchase
The Gadsden Purchase was bought in 1853 from Mexico and is part of the lower section of Arizona. It helped finish what the U.S wanted to get from Mexico. -
Alaska
Alaska was bought from Russia in 1867 but did not become a state until the late 1900s. It helped finish the 50 states along with Hawaii -
Hawaii
Hawaii was annexed from the republic of Hawaii in 1898 for protection and then became a state soon thereafter, along with Alaska, Hawaii helped finish off the 50 states.
