The Indian Removal Act is created by Andrew Jackson

President Jackson Creates the Indian Removal Act to remove all Native Americans from land that they owned to preservation camps so the U.S. could aqcuire more land.

Oberlin College accepts women

Dec 30, 1837

Oberlin College in Ohio becomes the first college to accept women into their program.

Mexican American War starts

Apr 25, 1846

Mexican troops fire on patroling American soldiers which started a war.

Mexico Cedes the area between California and Texas

Feb 29, 1848

Mexico agrees to cede after the Treaty of Guatalupe-Hidalgo.

The Gold Rush Begins

The California gold rush starts and settlers begin to use the California TRail to migrate to the gold feilds. The San Fransisco 49ers got their name from this date.
