The War of 1812 was a war against Great Britian, and this war is sometimes called the Revolutionary War part 2. Durign this war the Star-Spangled Banner was made because of the Battle of Fort McHenry. This war let Americans express their national pride. -
Mexican American War
The Mexican-American War was basically a war for Texas. Mexico owned Texas but Texas didn't want to be owned why Mexico so they had many battles, for example the famouse Alamo. The Untied States wanted the land of Texas and Texas wanted to be apart of the Union so they went to war and won against the Mexicans. -
California Gold Rush
The Gold Rush is a time period when gold flakes were found by William Marshall on John Sutters sawmill land. When news got out about the gold nuggets/flakes, people from the east coast and from different countries went to California for the gold. -
Compromise of 1850
The Comproise of 1850 was an agreement made in order to admit California into the Union as a free state. These agreements included allowing the New Mexico and Utah territories to decide whether to allow slavery, outlawing the slave trade in Washington D.C., adn creating a stronger Fugitive Slave Law. -
Gadsden Purchase
The Gadsden Purchase is when the United States purchased land from Mexico that included the southern parts of present day Arizona and New Mexico. The United States paid 10 million dollars because of railroads.
