  • Rural & Urban

    Rural & Urban
    A plot of land turned to be useful for a small community of humans (rural). Usually a large expanse of land turned cities and large settlements for huge communities of humans (urban).
  • Missionaries

    Missionaries
    A person sent on a religious mission to promote a specific belief; most commonly Christianity.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Any intervention by an external power is considered a potentially hostile attack against the US.
  • Great Plains

    Great Plains
    A broad expanse of flat land, usually used for grazing animals of different kinds. Most of it is covered in prairie and grasslands. It lies East of the Rocky's.

    A naval officer and historian who was highly respected and influential of sea power.

    The process of fully understanding ideas and taking in information. In history, large migrant groups of ethnic heritage were changed to fit the dominant cultures in which people would choose to try to learn about the minority groups.

    Encouraged Western migration due to the lack of industrialization in the west compared to the east side of the America.

    A lifestyle of self sufficiency, meaning a land owner takes care of themselves without the need of external resources.

    Railroad that stretches the expanse of the US, used for transporting cargo, messages, people, and items for trade.

    Amendments passed after the Union won the Civil War in the US. The 13th amendment banned slavery. The 14th amendment granted the people protection and rights as a citizen. The 15th amendment allowed African American men to vote.

    The process of leaving a place with past citizenship and gaining citizenship in another country.

    The consensus where the population density of two people per square mile across a certain point no longer existed.

    A migration of about 100k prospectors to North-West Canada in search of gold mines.

    A war started by the US as an intervention on Cuba's behalf. Fought between Spain and US.

    Crude exaggeration of a specific story in the news or a newspaper.

    Gained from the Spanish-American war, the US gained Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines as territories. Cuba gained independence and protection from the US.
