    Britain wins French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War began in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The war provided Great Britain enormous territorial gains in North America. This is important because it sent Britain into massive debt which started the chain of events.
  • Britain imposes taxes on the American colonies

    Britain imposes taxes on the American colonies
    Acts such as the Stamp Act, the Tea Act, and the Townshend Act are imposed on the colonies due to Britain's massive debt. This is important because its one of the leading reasons for the revolution.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British troops fire into a mob, killing five men and leading to intense public protests. This is important because this was sort of the tipping point for the colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Group of colonial patriots disguised as Mohawk Indians board three ships in Boston harbor and dump more than 300 crates of tea overboard as a protest against the British tea tax. This is important because it was the first sign of rebellion.

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord signaled the start of the American Revolutionary war on April 19, 1775. The British Army set out from Boston to capture rebel leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington as well as to destroy the Americans store of weapons and ammunition in Concord. This is important because it was the first battle of the revolution and the first win for the colonists.
