    The Years of the Revolutionary War

  • The Declaration of Independence gets signed

    On July 4th 1776 The Declaration of Independance was signed. It was signed to bring freedom and independence to the 13 colonies.
  • Ratification of the United States Constitution

    The Constitution was underway in September 1787. The constitution would be started if 2/3 (9) of the states in the 13 colonies would agree to the Constitution. At first the 13 colonies didnt agree.
  • Fugitive Slave Act

    Fugitive Slave Act
    This act was a pair of federal laws that allowed for runaway slaves to be captured and returned to their original owner. There was then another slave act passed in 1850. This time it they added further provisions regarding harsh punishments when runaways are captured. (McDougall Littel (pg.480)
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    In 1803, two explorers set out to explore the American West. Their names were Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. They traveled West for awhile exploring further from the borders of the East. During this time Lewis and Clark made it to a new terrain and enviorment and eventually purchased lousiana. This gave them access to the Mississippi River making it easier to sell and purchase goods. This purchase nearly doubled the size of the U.S (McDougal-Littell,345)
  • The Lewis and Clark Journey

    The Lewis and Clark Journey
    In 1802 Thomas Jefferson had planned to explore Louisiana after they had bought it. So Jefferson had sent an officer named Meriwether Lewis. His job was to lead an exploration of the Louisiana Country. Before he was off on his exploration he had asked a mapmaker and outdoorsman named William Clark to help him on his journey. This journey was important because it gave the Americans more experience when they would go West with a map Lewis and Clark made. (McDougal Littell Pg: 346-348)
  • The Texas Revolution

    The Texas Revolution
    In 1833 Americans attacked the Mexicans in Texas. The Americans wanted to own Texas because it was extra land. But the Americans had a sneaky plan. It wasnt just to bombard into Texas and attack, it was to gain trust from the Mexicans and then strike them. It was fine until many Americans settled in Texas and the Mexicans started to tax them, this resulted in the Americans wanting Texas even more. Eventually the Americans won. This completed the U.S.( McDogal Littell Pages: 427-431)
  • Donner Party

    Donner Party
    In 1846 the Donner Party left illinois led by two wealthy men. These men thought they knew a shortcut to get to Fort Bridger, Wyoming. But during this a a bad snow storm had settled in. They had used the rest of there food in the first 18 days. It was said only 45 of the 98 emigrants reached California the following year.   • Mexican American War

    Mexican American War
    In 1846 a Mexican unit crossed the border and ambushed an American patrol. This lead to Americans reacting very heavily. This started a war. The Americans thought it would be easy attacking from 2 ways but they were wrong it was very hard. In Northern Mexico Americans had to retreat and the war in Northern Mexico was over. But in South Mexico the Americans had pulled out and won. (McDougal Littell Pages: 433-437)
  • The California Gold Rush

    The California Gold Rush
    In 1848 a carpenter named James Marshall discovered something very interesting. He had found a shiny stone in the nearby river where he had set up his sawmill. This discovery turned out to be gold. A source of new money. This discovery led to thousands of people migrating to California to make their fortune. Before this discovery people who lived in California had lost their homes and land to the Mexican Government. (McDougal Littell Pages: 439-445)

    Uncle Tom's Cabin a book about a group of slave was created on the date of March 20, 1852. It inspired and showed many people the true fear and bad conditions slaves where living in and caused many people to change their opinion about slavery. (http://www.history.com/)

    Bleeding Kansas was started after the Potawatomie massacre. The Potawantomie massacre was lead by John Brown

    The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
    On April 15th, 1865 Abraham Lincoln was assasinated. He was assasinated five days after the commander of the Confederate Army surrendered to the Union Army. The original plan was to kidnap the president but the plan was not very well planned because the Commanding General of the Unions armies men were out numbered.

    The Stock Market crashed on Octoboer 29, 1929. This symbolized the end of prosperity. This stock market crash began the Great Depression.

    On April 18, 1938 Superman made his first appearance in Comics. The Book was called "The Reign of Super-man". The Book was about a planet named Krypton. The planet home of Superman and was going to explode. Then a scientist sent his son to earth to save him from the explosion and became notices as Super-Man.

    The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor In Hawaii on December 7, 1941. This Attack caused a huge war a few years later. This war is known as World War 1. This attack was very unexpected.

    On August 6th, 1945 Hiroshima was bombed by the United States. Hiroshima was bombed shortly after WW2 ended. The bombing on Hiroshima killed 90,000-166,000 people.

    The Inauguration of John F. Kennedy
    On January 20, 1961 John F. Kennedy was Inaugurated and became the president. He became the 35th president.

    In August of 1962 Spider-Man made his first appearance in comic books. The book was the 15th one made. The first appearance of spider man in a comic book sold for $1.1 million dollars.

    Martin Luther King gave a speech at the March on Washington. He chose to go last because no one else wanted to. His speech was very inspirational because it gave blacks the freedom they needed to feel normal and have peace between the races.

    JFK was Assasinated on November 22, 1963. He was riding on a motorcycle when he was murdered. He was sent to ther hospital where doctors tried to keep him alive. He was pronounced dead at 1:00 Pm
  • The First Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs

    The First Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs
    On January 15th, 1967 the Green Bay Packers faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs in the very first Super Bowl. The Super Bowl took place in Los Angeles memorial Coliseum. The Green Bay Packers took home the first Super Bowl trophy with a win over the Chiefs. The final score was 35-10.
  • Martin Luther King Jr was Assasinated

    Martin Luther King Jr was Assasinated
    Martin Luther King Jr was Assasinated a few days after his speech at March on Washington. He was Murdered at 6:01pm in his hotel room on April 4th 1968. This Caused a huge outrage between the races, Blacks would fill the streets in anger and start a riot.

    On January 28th, 1986 the challenger space shuttle was launched. 73 seconds into its flight it exploded killing all 7 crew members inside. The rocket was launched from Florida when the crew had trouble with liftoff.

    On September 11th 2001 The twin towers where destroyed taking many lives. On that day two planes crashed into the twin towers one at a time. The planes were drove by two hijackers. Also These Hijackers were in a group who attacked the pentagon that day.

    On Easter me and my family went to Tenesee we were planning to stay and visit my dads parents. But when we were in Tenesee we met up with our cousins that we havent seen in a while. We didnt see them because all of our parents had a huge fight. The trip was very emotional meeting our cousins and then leaving them.
