    SUMMARY
    The Crusades were the religious wars between Christians and Muslims. The wars were fought over the Holy Land aslo known as Jerusalem, which is located in Europe. In the end the Chirstians, known as Europeans lost. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    The reason for it's importance is because it gave the Europeans new ideas and things.

    It is important because it gave the opening to the Renaisance Era.

He left Spain in Aug. of 1492. He was trying to reach India. His trop lasted til Oct 12, 1492 and found the Bahamas instead, opening a new world. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT

    Four ships of 170 men headed South to Africa. By December they were around the Southern tip of Africa. They weren't really welcomed by the natives. May 20, 1498 they reached INdia after 10 months. Only 50% of the crew survived WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because they were one of the first people to bring in goods from another country, and expanded the trading routes.

    Martin Luther was a monk who began to question the Church. On October 31, 1517 he posted 95 statements on the Wittenberg's Church door. These 95 these explained what was wrong with the church. The Pope wanted Luther to take back the 95 theses but refused so he was cut off from the church. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because it opened up the thought of going against a church that was somely wrong.

    It is important because it was one of the first establishments of America and had impacted us for generations.

    King Phillip, native name Metacom, was on the native side. Alex a native was taken in Plymouth for questioning, his death coming shortly after. Then the Wampanoags were asked to surrender their weapons. Then an informer was murdered. Then setting off a raid. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because it affected the relationship between the Indians and Colonists, who were the landholders of the soil of America.

    The Salem Witch Trials were in the year of 1692, when young girls were supposedly possessed by the devil. Many people were also tried for witchcraft. They started to hang people and eventually people thought wrong of it. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important becuase it marks a time in our history about the death sentence. It changed the on-going debate about the death sentence

Valley Forge was a military camp which consisted of many tents and a house for George W. Baron Friedrich von Steuben and Marquisde Lafayette where 2 men who brought order and helped the Patriots. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because this marked the way to the victory of the actual war to help the U.S.

    Gen. Cornwalls wanted the British to march North into Virginia. That was his goal and he got that by getting infor on the Patriots from a former Patriot, Benedict Arnold. washington marchs into Virginia, south. French fleet is in the East oceans and the British are surrounded and lose the last battle. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT
    ItIt is important because it was a big win for the Patriots and helped us to win the war

    President Jefferson purchased the Lousiana Purchase from France. The (LP) was a big spread of land in the U.S. Jefferson asked Lewis & Clark to explore the unknown land. Jefferson wanted knowledge on Indians, plants, animals, the terrain and geography. They started their journey May 14, 1804. After 2 years they came back with many descriptions of plants, animals, & maps. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important becaue it helpe expand the U.S. and made part of America.

    Over 125,000 Native Americans lived near the Mississippi River and Andrew J. wanted the Indian Removal. Some people believed that the Indians didn't belong, so after the signing thousands of Indians were moved on a trail to Oklahoma known as the Trail of Tears. It was bad, many died. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because it impacted the relationship between the Indians and the Colonists which would soon affect us today.

    The Gold Rush started when a little bit of gold was found. When James MArshall found some gold while building a mill, the secret spread. Man people, mostly young men, fled to California to get rich, soon the population grew. There was 3 routes to get to California, which were very hard. The Gold Rush then died down when silver was found in Nevada. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because it helped spread the population and gained attention for California to become a state

    The Undergoudn Railroad was a network of people and places that helped slaves escape to Freedom. The leader of this Railroad was known as Harriet Tubman. She helped to free over 300 people to freedom. There were many dangers in trying to escape using the railroad. The farther down south you were, the harder it was to escape. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because it is one of the many things that helped the movement to free blacks of slavery.

    The Compromise of 1850 was the balance of the free states and the slaves states. The thing that started this all was the California was becoming a state and wanted to be a free state. The South had a problem with that because then the North would be stronger with more people on their side. Henry Clay comes up with the compromise. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important becuase it gave order to the two sides and help to see that slavery needed to be abolished.

    Dred Scott was a slave of a military doctor who lived in Missouri(Slave). While traveling the doctor dies in Wisconsin(Free). Dred said he wa free, but the doctor's family tries to claim him as property. Dred sues for his freedom, while in the state court rules on his side, the family wasn't satisfied. They took it to Supreme Court where he was ruled as property. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because it made an impact on Slavery and showed the injustice of the situation

    The Battle of Gettysburg was located in Pennsylvania. General Robert E. Lee led the offensive attack on the Union on the first day. The next day the Union got a huge advantage by securing the hill. On the third day the Conferdate side tries to attack the hill but ends up retreating giving the win to the Union. WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because it gave a huge advantage to the Union, and helped get one step closer to winning the war and keeping peace.

    April 14th, Lincoln was visiting the show with his wife and friends to see the newest play. During that time John Wilkes Booth was planning his assassination. While in the box top area, John moves in and shots Lincoln from behind. The net day he dies, making Andrew Johnson the 17th president WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
    It is important because it was one of the first assassination of a president and made an impact in the U.S. security
