  • Founding of the Jamestown Colony

    Founding of the Jamestown Colony
    Jamestown was the first permenment colony in Virgina. It was discovered by Captin John Smith and his crew of 104 men and boys. The colony was named after there king, King James the 1. It was important event for America because America would have never become Amereica without its first colony Jamestown

    The Revolutionary war begun when the frist 13 Colonies wanted to gain their independence from the British. The Americans didn't have a very strong army compared to the British army. The Americans ended up winning the war when Cornwalis surrendured at Yorktown. If the Americans wouldn't have won the war we would still most likely be under British rule still.
  • The Signing of the Declaration of Independence

    The Signing of the Declaration of Independence
    After about a year of fighting the American Revolution congress decided to sign the Declaration of Independence. The document was signed in Philidelphia PA which was then the capital of the U.S. .They sent copies of the documents to all of the Colonies and to Britian. If the document wouldn't have been signed there wouldn't have been a way to Declare our independence from Britian and we would still be under their rule.

    On this day the Constitution was made into the offcial rule book of the United States. We still follow the rules of the Constitution today.

    The Louisianna Purchace
    On this day in history President Jeffereson bought the Louisianna territory from the french. It was important because it doubled the size of the U.S. Jefferson originaly only offred to buy a small portion of land to avoid a war, but Napoleon offered all of it for 3 cents an acre.(McDougal Littell p.345-346)

    The Lewis and Clark Journey

    Thomas Jefferson hired Meriweather Lewis and William Clark to explore the Louisianna Territory. Their expedition was important becasuse it gave the U.S, more knowlege about the Territory and acurate maps of it.They sucsessfully made the journey across to the pacific coast and back with the help form some native. One imparticular Native American helped a lot and her name was Sacagawea. During the whole expedition only one person died during the whole trip. (McDougal Littel p.346-349)
  • Nat Turner

    Nat Turner
    Nat Turner was a slave. Unlike other slaves he learned how to read and write. When he grew older he preached to other slaves about Jesus and what the Bible really said. In 1831 Turner took a group of 70 slaves and they killed 55 white Virginians. After Amunition ran out some slaves were captured and some were killed including Turner.Turner said that God told him to start the rebelion. the rebelion was said to be the bloodiest slave rebelion in America's history.(Mcdougal Littel p.376)

    The Texas Revolution

    The Texans had become angry witht the Mexican goverenment and they wanted to break away from them. The Americans fought, which were mostly famous frontier men such as Davy Crockett and freed African American slaves. The Texans came out victorious and a treaty was then signed that gave them their independence from Mexico. (McDougal Littel p. 429-431)

    The Donner Party had been stuck in the Sierra Navada Mountains for weeks and they were running out of food. After Christmas day ing 1846 they resorted to cannibalism. They ate Patrick Dolan becasue he was the one that pulled the slip that meant he would be eaten first.

    James Marshall saw something shiny in the stream and that's when the Gold rush started. It motavatied people from all over the world to move out to California for gold mining. Suppliers for gold miners jacked up their prices and made it harder for miners to get the gold they needed to sell for money, but it didn't stop people from mining.Since so many people came out to California for gold it was enough to make California its own state.     Publication of Uncle Tom's Cabin
    The book Uncle Tom's Cabin was written by Harriet Beesher Stowe, a strong abolitionist. The book was about the crulities of slavery.Stowe wrote the book in 1850, and it was later published in 1852; it was a huge success in the north, but the south thought it gave a false impression of slavery, which really impacted what the south thought of the north which lead to the Civil War. The book became so popular it was translated into 20 different languages. (McDougal Littel p.485)
  • Harper's Ferry

    Harper's Ferry
    Haper's Ferry is a U.S. arsenal in Virgina. A strong abolisionist John Brown planned to capture weapons at the arsenal for a slave rebelion he was planning to provoke a slave uprise. On Oct. 16 1859 Brown radid the arsenal with 18 followers 6 were captured and 10 were killed.Brown was captured and sentenced to death for treason, and for wanting to cause a slave revolt. When Brow was hung the north considered him a hero while the south was horrifed by the north"s reaction (McDougal Littel p. 497)

    The Stock Market Crash also known as "Black Tuesday" was the worst stock market crash in U.S. history. The Crash signaled the 10 year Great Depression. This event is important but not in a good way becasue it led up to the great deppresion which was a very hard time for people to make money in America.

    The Attack on Pearl Harbor from Japan which entered the U.S. into World War II. the Attack was a planned military attack which killed over 2,400 people and wounded over 1,200 people. The Attack was an important event in Americas Military history becasue it entered us into World War II and caused Serioud damage to the Military base in Pearl Harbor.

    The Americans bombed Hiroshima during the final stages of World War II. The bombing Between 90,000-166,000 people were killed in the bombing. This event in history was important becasue this was the first time an atom bomb was ever dropped and it was also a part of World War II that helped to end it by making Japan surrender.

    The idea for Spider-Man was from Stan Lee who worked for Marvel. Later on Stan's idea was published by Marvel. Steve Ditko was the illistrator and Stan Lee was the writer for the comics.This event really wasn't important in American history.

    The March on Washinton was a famous March to end segragation in America. The event was attended by 250,000 people which was the largest demonstration of people ever seen in Washington D.C. At this event was where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream Speech" which was a huge impact on the fight for equal rights. The Event was also a very peaceful march on like others in the country.

    The Explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle
    The shuttle explotion happened within 73 seconds of the flight and killed all of the 7 members on board. The Explosion Happened in Cape Caraveral Florida. Debrie rained down in the Atlantic Ocean after an hour of the Explosion. There were no clues to what caused the accident but they think the fuel tank may have been a factor.The Explosion is known as the worst accident in the history of American Space Program and that is why it's important in American history.

    On this day there was an al Qadea trerrorist attack on America. There were 2,996 people killed and over 6,000 people injured. The terrorist hit the world trade center in New York, the pentagon in Washington D.C., and another plane crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania when the passengers were trying to over ride the terrorist. It is an important event becasue it was such a big attack on our country that we will never forget.

    When my Grandma died we knew it could have been prevented so thats why I would go back in time to save her. My grandma died from a heart attack that she had been having for 2 weeks but didn't know about. I would go back in time to get her to the hospital before she had the heart attack and save her because I never really got to know her. I really want to have her back becasue I never got to see her and when I did we always had a lot of fun and life just felt right.

This will be a very important event becasue i can now go to college and I'm done with high school. I will still have to come back becasue my sister will still be in high school so I won't be gone for good.

    My wedding day will be the most in the Universe. I'm not sure who I'm going to marry, but I hope it's Harry Styles. It won't be a huge wedding but I will televise it so that all the other girls who wanted to marry Harry will be jealous of me.
