    This was the start of the U.S.'s independence. It was fought between America and Great Britain. This was important because it what allowed us to be a separate identity and form our own nation. It also led to the U.S. making a name for itself for being able to withstand Great Britain's army.

    During this time, factories started to rise in America. This allowed America to make more products for a cheaper price. This was important because it led to the U.S. being a prominent figure in the global economy. It was also important because it led to the U.S. seeing how workers need rights so that they stay working.

    This was the election where George Washington was elected as president of the United States. He was elected unanimously by all leaders of each state. George Washington led to us calling our leader, President. It mattered because he set up a lot of foundations for the rules of president. It was also significant because he made sure the president didn't hold too much power.

    The Louisiana purchase was a purchase made by Thomas Jefferson. The land was purchased from France. It was important because it helped the U.S. expand its territory and provide us with the states we have today in the midwest. It also was important because it helped us develop the idea of Manifest Destiny.

    The Civil War was a battle between the North side of America and the South side of America. The north side called themselves "The Union" while the South side called themselves "The Confederates." This war was one of the most deadliest wars in U.S. hearts. This war was important because it split Americans and this split still almost last today.     Was one of the battles in the Civil War. The confederates won in this battle. This was important because it was a huge turning point in the war, in favor of the Union. It was important because it led to the defeat of Robert E. Lee's army and his army never won another battle after Gettysburg.

    Abraham Lincoln was a very controversial president for the south of the U.S. They hated him because he signed a document that allowed for slaves to be free. This led to a southern extremist named "John Wilkes Booth" to murder Abraham Lincoln at a play. This was very important because it led for the U.S. to put more protection towards our presidents.

    Jim Crow Laws restricted African Americans from many rights that white people in the U.S. had. It was done out of racism and hatred towards the freed slaves. It was important because it created a huge divide between white people and African Americans. This is important because this split has created many issues throughout all of history and even to this day.

    The Lusitania was an American ship that delivered cargo the British. The ship was then shot down by German U-boats (submarines). This was important because it revealed that the U.S. was aiding the British in WWI. This was also important because it was what lead to the U.S's involvement in WWI.

This event was significant because it resulted in many people being stripped from their rights to free expression and opinion.     This event was an era where the U.S. was undergoing economic downfall. During this time, many people had no money and inflation skyrocketed. It was important because it showed that there needed to be government intervention in the economy. It was also important because it showed that the government needed to strengthen their banks.

    (1933-1936) During the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt wanted to help the nation recover. He created a series of programs, public work projects, financial reforms and regulations. They promoted economic recovery and social reform for the nation. This was important to US History because it led to most of the government programs that we have today, dedicated to supporting and protecting the rights of citizens.

    The dropping of the atomic bomb is one of the most controversial historical moments. It was developed to force Japan to surrender while intimidating Russia. Many people felt it was unnecessary and cruel to instantly take the lives of about 80,000 civilians in Hiroshima. The atomic bomb is also viewed as a turning point in American history. It changed the course of history because many people realized that it would be dangerous when other countries began developing their own atomic bombs.

    The Korean war was between South Korea, mainly backed up by capitalistic countries, and North Korea, mainly backed up by China and Russia. This was important because it was a battle to stop the spread of communism. It was also important because today, the split and scars between North and South Korea still exist.

    (July 25 1950-July 27 1953)The Korean was was a war between South and North Korea. It began when North Korea invaded the South. They crossed the 38th Parallel. The United States aided the South side. This event was significant for the US because it set the tone for the Cold war tension.

    Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the biggest civil rights activist. Through peaceful protest, he went against segregation laws to try to show that the laws were unfair. The Civil Rights Movement was important because it helped end segregation in the U.S. It was also important because it helped society become the way it is today.

    The Vietnam War was between North Vietnam and South Vietnam who was mainly backed up by the U.S. Army. There were many casualties from each side. In the end, the U.S. took out its troops from Vietnam and the South fell to the North. This event was important because it showed how scarring war is. It was also important because it showed the U.S. that they had to take into​ consideration the damage the soldiers were taking mentally.

    Rosa Parks Protest
    In this event, an African American refused to get up from her seat on a bus and give it up to a white person. She was arrested and had a court case. The court case found Rosa Parks guilty but her and civil rights activist took the case up to the supreme court, who found the laws of segregation wrong and found Rosa Parks not guilty. This event was important because it was helped get rid of segregation between whites and blacks. It was also important because it showed the power of peaceful protest

    (1964-1973)The largest Anti-war protest was organized in a march against the Vietnam War. Families were sick and tired of getting nowhere with the war and loosing their loved ones over it. There were about 15,000-20,000 people participating. This was a significant event because it demonstrates the power of the voices of citizens against government.

    These protest began during the Vietnam War. This was because of the U.S. citizens seeing the cruelties of war. These protests were important because they showed the U.S. government that war was very controversial. It also was important because it also showed the power of the U.S. citizens when united.
  • Vietnam War

    (Nov 1, 1955- Apr 30, 1975) The Vietnam War began in November of 1955. However the US did not get involved until March of 1965. US Marines came ashore at Da Nang as the first wave of US combat troops into South Vietnam. This was an important event for US history because it changed many people's lives. There were many tragedies and families destroyed. It was the last time that a US draft was set for a war.

    Commander Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first people to land on the moon. The historical spaceflight was Apollo 11. This was a significant event for mankind because it was the beginning of an exploration on space. It was also significant because the first men to land on the moon were American.

    On September 11th, the terrorist group Al-Qaeda attacked multiple government buildings in the U.S. One of the most scarring events from this day, was the attack on the World Trade Center. This event led to the deaths of multiple, innocent, U.S. citizens and devasted Americans. This event was important because it started the war on terrorism in the middle east. It was also important because it made the U.S. secure their nation more.
