    Declaration of Independence
    The people thought is was necessary for one to create something that would connect them with each other and to think about the powers of the earth. To be respectful to the people it requires them to impel separation. The Declaration of Independence states freedom for the 13 colonies. It was printed but had been lost so it was written in Thomas Jefferson's hand. There are some sentences in the Declaration of Independence that are favorited more than others.

    Whiskey Rebellion
    A rebellion of settelers went against the tax on whiskey. This was during the presdency of George Washington. This was the 1st tax to be enforced on a domestic product by the government. Congress used its new constitutional authority to lay and collect taxes.

    The XYZ affair was a diplomatic incident between French and the US diplomats that resulted in a undeclared war. United States refused to continue repaying it debts to France. Ffrench outraged, lead to a series of attacks on American shipping. It lead to a retaliation from the Americans.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was the acquisition of the Louisiana territory by the US from France. The Louisiana territory included land from 15 present US states and 2 Canadian provinces. Its population was around 60,000 inhabitants. The kingdom of France controlled the territory.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    The US contained 22 states, evenly divided between slave and free. The Missouri Compromise requested admission in which slavery would be allowed. The tensions began rising between pro-slavery and anti-slavery within the US. It passed an amendment that drew an imaginary line across the border of the Louisiana territory also establishing a boundary between free and slave regions.

    Monroe Doctrine
    The Monroe Doctrine was a US foreign policy dominating the American continent in 1823. The doctrine was developed to meet major concerns, but soon became a motto of US policy in the Western Hemisphere. The Monroe Doctrine was invoked in 1865 when the US government exertes diplomatic and military pressure. It warned European powers not to interfere in the affairs of the Western Hemisphere.
  • Indian Removal Act

    Indian Removal Act
    The Indian Removal Act was passed in 1830 when Andrew Jackson was president. The law authorized to negotiate with southern Indian tribes to remove federal territory along the west side of the Mississippi River in exchange for their lands. The act affected the 5 major tribes known as the Civilised Tribes that took on a degree of integration into modern culture. The act enjoyed support from non-Indian people from the South who were wanted to gain access to lands by the southeastern tribes.

    They could not decided whether to make texas a state or not. They eventually decided to though. It was a very controversial decision and event.
  • Assassion of Abraham Lincoln

    Assassion of Abraham Lincoln
    Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 15, 1865 by John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. The attack happened only 5 days after Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered his army. He was the first president that was assissnated in the US. Lincoln almost didn't go to the play but when General Grant cancelled, he felt required to attend.
