  • Samuel Slater

    Samuel Slater built the first factory in America, he based his factory from working at a factory in England by remembering the plans from the England factory. He also invented a cotton spinning mill.

    The United States developed its first political parties. The Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans.
  • Election

    Vice President Thomas Jefferson of the Democratic-Republican Party defeated incumbent President John Adams of the Federalist Party. The election was a realigning election that ushered in a generation of Democratic-Republican rule.
  • The River and Trails

    They used the rivers and trails for transportation on the trails they used wagons pulled by oxen or donkeys or their horses if they could afford them.
  • Population Increase

    The United States in the 1800's had a drastic population increase. The population nearly tripled the normal population.
  • The US Capitol Moves to Washington D.C

    They moved the US capitol to Washington D.C so that the capitol would be easier for everyone to meet at because it was in the middle of all the states at the time. It moved from Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Washington D.C.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase was the United States wanting to buy a shipping port and they were given the offer by Napoleon to also buy Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska, a portion of Minnesota west of the Mississippi River, a large portion of North Dakota, a large portion of South Dakota, the northeastern section of New Mexico, the northern portion of Texas, the area of Montana, and Wyoming for 15 million dollars.

    Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on an expedition to explore the Louisiana Territory.

    A steamboat was a fast and inexpensive way to transport goods. The fist steamboat was invented by Robert Fulton
  • MO Compromise

    Finally, a compromise was reached. Congress passed a bill granting Missouri statehood as a slave state
  • The Indian Removal Act

    The Indian Removal Act gave the whites the right to take the Indians land forcefully if they wouldn't leave. The whites could claim the land for themselves.

    The Oregon Trail

    The Oregon Trail was a trail made by trappers and fur traders that settlers used to move West. They used wagons with oxen, horses, or donkeys. In the wagons they carried all of their supplies in the wagons and walked along side the wagon. They had to deal with a lot of sicknesses and tough weather and terrain.

    The telegraph was invented by Samuel Morse. The telegraph made it easier to communicate.
  • The Mexican Cession

    The Mexican Cession is where the United States and Mexico had a Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo after the Mexican–American War.
  • The Gadsden Purchase

    The Gadsden Purchase was a treaty with Mexico that took place which gave us the land to the present day southern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico.
