  • Louisiana Purchase

    Thomas Jefferson went about purchasing a vast amount of territory from France for a very low price. This added much territory to the United States

  • The War of 1812

    The War of 1812 between the US and Britain begins

  • Indian Removal Act

    This law allowed for the negotiation to remove Native Americans from certain territories and move them further west.

  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    The Kansas-Nebraska Act was put into effect on May 5th, 1854. This allowed each state in the Act to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery.

  • South Carolina Secedes

    South Carolina becomes the first state to secede from the Union, leading the way for many other states.

  • The Confederate States of America is Established

    The CSA was established by the states that had seceded from the union

  • The Civil War Begins

    The Civil War begins at Fort Sumter in South Carolina

  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Abraham Lincoln decrees the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing all slaves in the Union
