  • Thirty Year War

    Thirty Year War

    This war lasted thirty years. It all began when protestors did not want to be forced to convert to the Roman Catholic religion. During this time almost eight million people were killed. Over time people cared less and less about religion and more about power. This event was significant because it would decide who would run the Roman Empire.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights was signed by William ||| and Mary ||. This bill gave a new avenue for power. It created ways for the parliament to have more power than the monarchy. This bill spoke of the thirteen rights and freedoms under the parliament. The Bill was created due to the failures of King James. This act was crucial in being inspiration for the U.S. Bill of Rights.

    War of The Austrian Succession

    The main cause of the war was the death of the Emperor Charles VI. The immediate inheritance of his position to his daughter and her husband was questioned by many. During the war most of Europe became involved. During this war there were rumors that Austria could not defend itself. They united with Britain and proved these rumors wrong. The war was mainly a battle between enemies and proving who was superior.

    This act was started as a way of paying for their troops fighting in various colonies. This act called for the people to pay taxes based on what a specific stamp represented on various paper. This was a big deal because it was one of the first moments the British were taxed for their army. Many people did not like it and wished for it to be abolished.

    The revolution lasted eight years. It all started when tension grew between the British colonies and the colonial government. During this war the French came into the mix. This turned the war into a multi national conflict. The French assisting the Americans to help make the British surrender. The American Revolution was important because it was the turning point for American Independence.

    The treaty of Paris started when the British realized American independence. During this they removed them self from the Mississippi river. This was important because it almost doubled the size of the U.S. This was critical in the development of the U.S.

    The French Revolution began in 1789 and ended in the late 1790s. The revolution began when King Louis XV| left the country on the edge of disaster. During this time they fixed economic systems, rulers, and politics. This event was crucial in bring France out of a disaster state and shaping many modern countries.

    Tennis Court Oath

    This oath was created when the deputies of the third estate wondered if the king was attempting to make them break apart. He did this by locking them out of their usual meeting hall. They quickly moved to the nearby tennis court and made an oath. They promised to stay together and not separate until the the French constitution had been written and established. It was important because it represented the resistance against the king and his systems.

    The Storming of Bastile

    The people of Paris invaded the Bastile prison. When they did this they tore the place to pieces. In their path of destruction they killed many guards. The prison represented the royal authority that was treating the French poorly. This event happened because the people of Paris were tired of the monarchy and wanted to start a revolution. This event was very important in French culture because it signified the star of a revolution.

    The Reign of Terror

    This period of time was one of the most violent in French history. There was massive warfare between two sides of politics. One who believed in constitutional monarchy and one who believed in economic liberalism. During this time many laws and actions were put into place to arrest many. The Reign of Terror was important because it created a constitutional army saving France from invasion.
