    Putin states that Ukraine isn't a true nation state, and should not join NATO.

  • Russia seized Crimea

    Russia seized the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea.

  • Russian troops deployed along the border

    Russia deployed troops along the border of Russia and Ukraine for "security" purposes.

  • Russia invades Ukraine

    Russia officially invades eastern Ukraine (Donbas)

  • Russia moves north

    Today, Russia has control over multiple eastern cities in Ukraine, and has began moving north.
