    President Thomas Jefferson made the deal.
  • The War of 1812

    The War of 1812

    AKA The Second War for Independence. U.S. defeated the British. Andrew Jackson emerged as a war hero by saving the city of New Orleans.
  • The Trail of Tears

    The Trail of Tears

    White settlers in Georgia wanted Cherokee lands. President Jackson sided with the whites and ordered the removal of the Cherokee to Oklahoma. Many died.
  • The Mexican War

    The Mexican War

    A sequel to the Texas Revolution, this war featured a four month conflct over Mexico's northern territory. The U.S. got 1/4th its total current territory.
