  • Louisiana Purchase Finished

    The Louisiana Purchase was a land deal between the United States and France, in which the U.S. acquired approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million.

    War of 1812

    The United States revolted against their mother country who was Great Britain. It was over marine rights that America claimed Great Britain had unjustly taken away. Great Britain ended up winning this war. Although this is true, Britain was also fighting Napoleon's army at the same time, they took many losses.
  • Treaty of Ghent

    Great Britain agreed to take back claims on Northwest Territory, and both countries pledged to work toward ending the terrible slave trade.
  • Indian Removal Act

    The Indian Removal Act was an agreement to forcefully relocate Native Americans from their homes. This caused the Trail of Tears.
  • Texas declares independence from Mexico

    Texas claimed that they were no longer apart of Mexico. This led to the Mexican-American War.

    Mexican-American War

    The battles were fought mainly because of territorial disputes along the Rio Grande and up. Mexico lost the war and almost half of their territory. After gaining all that land, the United States became a world power.
  • Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

    The treaty officially ended the Mexican American War.
  • Abraham Lincoln Elected

    Abraham Lincoln was a very passionate and active president. He was for abolition, so President Lincoln's election pushed in motion a future division in the country.

    American Civil War

    The young nation splits in to the Union and the Confederacy when the South seceded from the North. This was due to taxation, State's Rights, and slavery reasons. All the division led to a civil war were bought sides thought they were fighting for a holy person. The Union, led by Abraham Lincoln, won the war, and began reconstructing the nation as a whole.
