My Second Job in Education
After teaching the year at Shandin Hills, I was offered a job teaching and coaching at Lakewood High School, in Long Beach USD. -
My First Classes
When I first started at Lakewod, I taught Modern World Histroy and Government. I was 23 and taught 1 period of Seniors. I had to really establish my authority and create the impression that I was older. I remember being really tired and very busy. It was a whirlwind, but fun. -
My First Experiences as a Head Varsity Water Polo Coach
This was exciting for me. I was officially a Head Water Polo Coach. -
Teaching AP
After a number of years teaching and coaching, I took over teaching AP Macroeconomics and AP U.S. Government and Politics. This was such a whole new experience teaching. I had been teaching some Economics prior to this and had minored in Economics, it was a whole new wold in teaching the AP content. I loved it! 2004 was a big year in my carrer. I took on a lead teacher position for an SLC, finished my M.A. in Teaching, and got married. -
Today
As of today, I'm still teaching the AP courses and am currently serving as Department Chair of the Social Science Department. I left coaching in 2010 to have children.
