  • Murder of Emmett Till

    Murder of Emmett Till
    Emmett was brutally murdered and shot to death by Milan & Bryant they were founded not guilty for they founded TIll’s corpse three day later and was really hard to identify if it really was him. This decision cause many people to outraged to not indict Milan & Bryant on the separate charge of kidnapping.

    Southern Manifesto
    In 1956, the Southern Manifesto was signed by 19 senators and 88 representatives, this document attacked Brown v. Topeka Board OF Edu. as an abuse of judicial power that trespassed around state rights . The Manifesto is a very important documents because it marked a moment of southern defiance again the Supreme Court 1954.

    On the first day of school at Central High a white mob and the Arkansas National guard send by the Governor Faubus were gathered in front of the school to prevent black kids from entering the school but the team of NAACP lawyers won the federal district court with the ruling that the governor must stop blocking black students from entering.

    This day was the day when 13 African-Americans join with wihite civil rights activists to form the famous group known as the "Freedom Riders." This collision was a very important group for they try to send a message by going on buses routes through the American South to protest segregation in interstates bus terminals. They did not only encountered violents from white protestor but they also gain fame along the way for what they stood for. (to eliminate segregation)

    Medgar Evers was shot to death by Bryan De La Beckwith; Evers was not just an African American civil rights leader but he also volunteered for the US army and was part of the normandy invasion.

    On this day an estimated amount of a quarter of million people marched from the Washignton Monumetn to the Lincoln Memorial to send their message of meaningful civil rights and to eliminate segregationa round the world. This event was important because it did not only consist of black people but white people as well it wasl covered by the media.

    The 24th amendment prevented states to poll tax on votes.This amendment was important because it helped many African American to finally vote especially in the South were the face discrimination and were not able to vote because they couldn’t afford the poll tax.
