    Milestone 1 - Physical Development

    Milestone 1 - Physical Development
Around 9 months to a year a child is able to sit up on their own and even stand with support. Close to a year they may be able to take a few steps on their own. At about a year and a half to two years they become increasingly less dependent, and are able to explore their world more freely, so child safety measures are important. They start to run, climb furniture, and may attempt to dress or undress themselves.

    Milestone 2 - Cognitive Development

    Milestone 2 - Cognitive Development
Piaget's ideas on sensorimotor intelligence suggest that from one year to 18 months, toddlers experiment more with their world, learning about forces like gravity and by pushing and throwing things. Around 18 months to two years they start using problem solving skills to find objects, open doors, and using vocalizations to get their point across.

    Milestone 4 - Language Development
Children around one year will start to use what is known as holophrastic speech, that is using partial words to convey ideas before they learn to use the whole word. Toddlers have an average vocabulary around 200 words and will string them together without the use of articles in what is know as telegraphic speech.
