    Canada then enters the war on August 4, 1914. 0 (because many lives were lost but allowed Canada to be independent).

    Canadians dead at Ypres Salient
    While fighting at the Ypres Salient, 2000 of the 18,000 Canadian soldiers there died from a new German Weapon, poison gas. -2 (because of all the tragedy that occurred)

    All Canadian divisions came together and fought Vimy Ridge which resulted in capturing it. +1 (because over 3000 died and over 7000 wounded)

    A French boat delivering supplies to Europe collided with another ship, exploding in the Halifax Harbour causing a massive explosion. This resulted in over 1600 deaths and many injuries. -2 (because of all of the deaths and injuries that occured).

    After the war, there was a sudden high demand for jobs and not enough to fill it, resulting in a poor economy, low wages, and illegal jobs. Also, the price of living was not going down to make it easier to stay afloat. -1 (because of the many people jobless).

    Canada was becoming a nation separate from Britain. In a 1919 conference, Prime Minister (at the time) Robert Borden referred to Canada as a separate nation from Britain. +2 (because this is the start of Canada's independence from Britain).
