    This was a massive religious movement of christian revivals. It expressed Protestanism in the colonies and Britain.
  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War starts with France and Great Britain. They both had allied Indian tribes.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was a tax placed on American colonists that covered any paper goods. Newspapers and legal documents were all taxed. This Act was eventually repealed in 1766.
  • Boston Massacre

    On this day, the colonists rebelled to the British in the form of an angry mob, and the end result was several dead.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    The 1st continental Congress was held in Philadelphia where delegates from all of the colonies met to discuss the Coercive Acts.
  • 2nd Continental Congress

    The 2nd Congress was held in Philadelphia as well, with all of the delegates from the 13 colonies discussing about the war effort and independence for the country.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    These two battles started the American Revolutionary War. There were 77 men in the militia army and they were facing about 700 British troops.
  • America Declares Independence

    On the 4th of July in 1776, The American colonies presented the Declaration of independence as a document of Independence for a new country.

    Battle of Yorktown

    During this battle, the French along with the continental army led by Washington fought against Cornwallis and his army. The British surrendered in October after three weeks of combat. This declared independence for America.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was a negotiation of independence for The United States from Britain. This ended the American Revolutionary War.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    This was when the United States acquired the Louisiana territory which nearly doubled the size of the US. This was one of the most significant events that happened during the time of westward expansion.

    War of 1812

    The war was caused for many reasons, one being the British who tried to restrict United States trade.The US was slightly destroyed after the war, with one problem being the nations capital, D.C., capture and burning. The treaty of Ghent ended the war a few years later in 1815.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    This battle is significant because a poorly equipped army was led into the city by Andrew Jackson and they fought to victory against 8,000 British troops.
  • Monroe Doctrine is Established

    This was a policy that was focused on opposing the colonization of Europeans in America, starting in 1823.
  • Trail of Tears

    Hundreds of thousands of Cherokee Native Americans are forced to walk down south on whats known as the Trail of Tears. Lots of people died along the way because of its 1,000 mile distance.

    Mexican-American War

    The war was caused for many reasons such as Texas's freedom from Mexico because the government was encouraging border raids and said that an annexation would lead to war.
  • Lincolns Election

    This is significant because he was the first president of the Republican Party and he beat Douglas along with others. People wanted Lincoln because of his ideas and through several campaigns, he won.

    American Civil War

    The civil war was fought between the Northern Union and the Southern Confederate states.The war was caused for many reasons, but slavery was a big part. Only in the south was slavery a thing, and the whole economy was based on it. The North was more Industrial so there was a major separation from the economic standpoint.
  • Slavery Gets Outlawed

    The 13th amendment abolished slavery when it was passed this day. This massively changed the economy in the south, due to the fact that they relied on it. It was a big Issue for everyone living there at the time.
  • Sherman's March to The Sea

    The march to the sea was when the military leader led 60,00 soldiers down to Savannah, Georgia in order to intimidate the population into abandoning the confederate cause.
  • Alaska is Purchased

    The United States bought Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million. The agreement was signed on this day by president Andrew Johnson.
  • Transcontinental Railroad

    On this day, the first transcontinental railroad was completed. At the time, the railroad industry along with the steel industry were among the biggest corporations in the nation.
  • Clara Barton and the Red Cross

    Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross to help soldiers in battle. On this day, she founded the American branch of the international Red Cross.
  • Women's Right to Vote

    The Nineteenth amendment was passed on this day guaranteeing all women the legal right to vote.
