    The September 11th attacks are conducted against the United States of America, killing nearly 3000 people at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon at the nation's capital, and rural Shanksville, PA.   • Broken Leg

    Broken Leg
    When I was roughly 2 years old I climbed out of my crib and broke my leg. To this day this remains as my most substantial injury. In fact this may be the most traumatic experience of my life, relatively, and I have no recollection of it.

    As a very young child, I was in a car accident alongside my mother, unborn younger brother, and older brother. This was not the fault of my mother, as our car was sitting still when it was hit by a car accelerating unintentionally. I was unharmed, but this event left my entire family shook.

After handling the crisis of 9/11 during his first term, Bush would have to tackle the disaster of hurricane Katrina during his second term.     The currently most expensive and deadly natural disaster in US history, Hurricane Katrina, struck the shore of the Gulf Coast on August 9, 2005. This event was only so deadly because of the poorly handled response. Modern disaster responses have been shaped around what the US and state governments did during Katrina.     At the ripe young age of 5 my family moved to Abington for reasons relating to my mother's work. I have lived in Abington my entire life, and I hardly remember life beforehand. My experiences in this town have shaped my worldview.

    First Hispanic Supreme Court Justice is Appointed
    Sonia Sotomayor was appointed to the Supreme Court on May 26, 2009, becoming the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice. This is another case of social change and progression.     Started Hockey
    When I was in fifth grade I began playing ice hockey for an organized team. This was the culmination of a childhood desire and would turn into a successful, albeit short, career in youth club hockey. Some of my best experiences and friends were made through hockey.

    On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law. This would help most citizens have access to healthcare and even promised that those who already have health insurance could keep their provider.     Assasination of Osama Bin Laden
    On May 1, 2011, President Barack Obama announced to the people of the US that a Navy SEAL Team successfully killed 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden. This opened a new chapter in the war on terror. I recall being awoken by my father the day of the announcement and being told that Bin Laden was killed and not knowing what it meant, but seeing my father in an exciting panic told me enough about the day's events.     Shooting of Trayvon Martin
    What was ultimately the last straw before the US population recognized that police brutality and race relations needed addressing in America, Trayvon Martin was killed by neighborhood watch officer George Zimmerman. This event has created a divide in opinion about race and policing in America, which as gone nowhere as more and more people are killed by police every day. (cnn,com)

    Before the start of my fourth season of ice hockey I opted to no longer continue playing. Team disagreements in combination with a lack of skilled teams to play on led to this decision. I would later to choose resume playing in a future event

    On September 11, 2012, members of an Islamic militant group attacked the US embassy and CIA buildings in Benghazi, Libya. The attacks took the lives of 4 US citizens including ambassador Chris Stevens. This event marked a major change in security for US institutions around the globe and has been a spot of disdain for now presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.     Edward Snowden Reveals US surveillance programs
    In June 2013, NSA contractor Edward Snowden fled to Hong Kong and leaked thousands of NSA documents detailing the US government's surveillance of its own citizens. These leaks created controversy although many people argue that the US population had a right to know of the programs in place.     Beginning September 9, 2013, the Fort Lee George Washington Bridge Lane Closure scandal, better known as Bridgegate, and continuing into present day, has been a major talking point in the local area and nationally. This haunting scandal has finally began trial and effects the presidential race of 2016.     On June 26, 2015, The United States Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional to deny same-sex couples the right to marriage.     Iran Nuclear Deal
    The Iran nuclear deal was intended to limit the nuclear power of Iran and limit their ability to put nuclear weaponry in the hands of terrorists. The deal controls how much enriched uranium Iran can accumulate and what they can do with such uranium. This deal is a defining part of the US's foreign relations.     Release of The Life Of Pablo
    On February 14, 2016, Kanye West released The Life Of Pablo for streaming on Tidal, later released universally. This album is currently my favorite piece of music, and as I scratch my head for events to add, I realize that music is a long-lasting and important aspect of my life and this is the most recent iteration of such.
