    Foundation of China
    The Chinese civil war ended in 1949. The result was that main land China became the people's republic of China with the communist party of China ruling. While Taiwan, Hainan and their surrounding islands became the republic of China with the Kuomintang of China ruling. Mao Zedong became the ruler of the people’s republic of China on the same day.

  • Tienanmen Square Protest

    Tienanmen Square Protest
    When stuedents in China started to protest the Chinese goverment to make them preform democratic reforms they were brutaly stoped on June 3 and June 4 1989 by the Chinese goverment, who used tanks and troops to put down the protest betwwen 100 to 1000 people where killed . On the square there where a million people including mostly students but also workers intelctuals and civil servants.

    The three gorges dam is the world's largest hydroelectric dam that breaks many records like for the most amount of people forced out of their homes (more than 1.2 million people). The most cities, towns and villages flooded which are 13 cities, 140 towns and 1,350 villages. And by the reservoir length which is 600 kilometers. Building the dam was very hard because the project was bothered by resettlement difficulties, human rights violations, environmental impacts, humongous costs and corruption
  • First Chinese man in space.

    First Chinese man in space.
    China put its firs man in space on October 15, 2003 making it the third country to put a man in space. The rocket carrying the astronaut was called March 2F. March 2F launched from the Gobi desert and was orbiting the Earth 10 minutes later and continued to orbit for 22 hours for a total of 14 orbits. The name of the astronaut was Yang Liwei and he was 38 years old.

    On January 27, 2006 Google China was launched under the domain google.cn, a local Chinese domain. Before this it was very hard for people in China to use google.com, Google images worked half the time and Google news never worked. Google was no very happy about launching google.cn because the Chinese authorities made Google limit the information available on google.cn
  • Beijing Olympics

    Beijing Olympics
    The Beijing summer Olympics, officially the games of the XXIX Olympiad was a major multi-sport event hosted in Beijing, China taking place from August 8, 2008 to August 24, 2008. 11,028 athletes from 204 countries participated in the event. There were 28 sports and 302 sporting events which is one more sporting event then in the last summer Olympic.
