  • Dr. Deborah Greenspan

    Recognized for her research that helped with HIV and Aids. She influenced oral health care worldwide.
  • Foundation of Profession

    Horace H Hayden and Chapin A Harris et the foundation for the profession of dentistry. No colleges existed then so professors learned through a preceptorship.
  • First College of Dental

    Harris and Hayden established the first college of Dental in the world. Baltimore College of Dental Surgery is now known as the University of Maryland, school of dentistry.
  • First Dental Assistant

    C. Edmund Kells was the first to employee the first assistant.
  • The Ohio State University College of Dentistry

    Was established in 1914 and is now still continuing to expand.
  • Dental Assisting Guidlines

    Guidelines were set in 1930 to draft courses of training to be used for the education guides.
  • African Americans

    Finally in 1867 African Americans were able to attend dental school. Robert Tenner Freeman was the first African American student.
