    Though some may think immigrants are bad for the economy, one could see that they helped the economy by filling thousands of jobs such as: construction, textile, and poultry, which boosted the economy greatly.

    Georgia's Taxes

    There are many taxes in Georgia such as the sales tax (tax on stuff you buy), the excise tax (tax on certain things), the income tax (tax on social security/medicare), etc, which has a major effect on the economy by taking money away from citizens to help the economy grow.

    Jimmy Carter

    Jimmy Carter helped Georgia, along with the rest of the United States by helping sign peace treaties, helping the unfortunate, and giving women and blacks more jobs, which helped the blacks gain more rights.
  • End of the White Primary

    This new occurrence let blacks vote in primary and general elections, which helped the black community greatly, but angered a majority of the white community.
  • 1956 State Flag

    Now, Georgia changed their flag to the confederate battle flag to show they agreed to discrimination, which caused a lot of tension between races.
  • March on Washington

    This march included Martin Luther King Jr's, "I have a dream" speech and had many other blacks marching, which lead to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and made whites angry, as blacks were gaining more rights.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    This new act stopped businesses from hiring, firing, or promoting employees because of their certain race, which helped a lot of blacks get out of poverty.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    This act stopped states from using different laws to keep citizens from voting because of skin color, which was a huge success for the black community.
  • Home Depot

    Since Arthur M. Blank and several others created Home Depot, the economy has risen greatly by gaining more money, and it is the number one home improvement store in America.
  • 1996 Olympics

    The Olympics helped Georgia by getting the state billions to help build hotels, parks, etc, since it was the largest event since the international cotton exposition, but when everyone was enjoying this, a bomb was set off, devastating hundreds.
