    The Newcomen atmospheric engine was invented in 1712 by Thomas Newcomen, in Caprington Colliery. The Newcomen atmospheric engine was invented to pump water out of mines to the surface, in Britain and Europe, and it had a huge impact on mining and draining water.

  • Spinning Jenny 1770

    Spinning Jenny 1770
    The Spinning Jenny was invented in 1770, by James Hargreaves, in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. The Spinning Jenny is used to spin cotton and wool and is had a huge impact on people as it made it so much easier for them to make cloth and coats.

  • Settlement of Australia January 26, 1788

    Settlement of Australia January 26, 1788
    The settlement of Australia happened on January 26, 1788, by Captain Arthur Phillip. Captain Arthur Phillip was leading 11 British ships to the colony of New South Wales, and that is when he found Australia. This had a huge impact on Indigenous people as they lost their land, they had to be involved in violence and that resulted in many deaths.

  • Federation January 1 1901

    Federation January 1 1901
    On January 1 1901is when New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania joined together to make and be part of the Commonwealth, and this process is called Federation. This had a good impact on Australia as it made it one big nation, trades all over Australia, and Australia got to show its structure, powers and procedures.
