  • Homestead Act

    Was passed by the U.S congress. It provided for the transfer of 160 acres of land
  • Indian peace Commision established

    It negociated peace with plains. Indian tribes were warning the U.S
  • Transcontinental Railroad completed

    This railroad was a very important goal for president Abraham Lincoln. The railroad was fully finished four years later after his death.
  • Battle of Little Bighorn

    The battle was called Custer's last stand. Battle was against the U.S 7th Cavalry.
  • End of cattle boom

    Cattle boom ended. The cattle boom ended because of too many cattle on the open range to handle
  • Dawes Act

    The act was designed to breakup tribes. It promoted the assimilation of Indians into American society
  • Oklahoma Land Rush

    Indian territory opened up in Oklahoma. This caused a chain of episodes to occur.

    Frontier was ending in a census. The western frontier was the first to close.
  • Battle of Wounded Knee

    U.S troops arrested chief Big Foot and Wounded Knee creek. The tribe was destroyed.
