    Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangles Banner while at the Battle of Baltimore. The lines pretty much sum up what he saw for instance. Bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, Rockets red glare.

    With the american army at his helm General William Henry Harrison decided to send a little message through Captain Nathaniel Hart the message was “to hold the ground at any rate.” On the morning of the 22nd the retaliation for that message came when a sneak attack came. Even though the Americans were no match for the natives and British they continued onwards to fight. The Americans lost in crushing defeat with deaths over 300 and over 500 captures. Only 24 killed and 158 wounded for Britian

Genral Harrison and his 800 men rush in inpursuit of english troops he catches the english off balance but not the 1,200 indians.Tecumseh and his men are ready for a fight and harrison is ready to give them one. The americans were'nt used to he enemy getting so close before firing but thats okay because they adjust ike that. Tecumseh was shot several times an died. Richard jhonson said that this battle was tough.

The attacked started by a move up a hill towards the cannons of the British.General scott was wounded due to it. But they did not give up they regroped an came from a different angle this time. The battle raged into the night and eventually the British won they lost 878 men including canadian and america lost 860 including 7 commanders.

The british basially went in and torched everything Anyone and everyone fleed includind the president but he did stay the longest aong with his spouse Dolley Madison. On the way out his mistress grabbed a famous portrait of the first president George Washington so it want destroyed in the fire.

    After a demanding and strange day of burning washington DC the british decided to keep there hot streak going. They did this buy trying to take fort mchenry. This fort was in baltimore so basically it was the next stop on the map for the British. The americans hearing about this plan they make there own. This battle lasted 25 hours of nothing but the British hucking 180 pound cannonballs at the americans. Only 3 were killed and 23 wounded. The Bitish ad 330 killed missing aor captured.

    This battle was basically the stopping point for the war. In this battle there were 12,000 soilders (7,500 for the British and 4,500 for the American) General Andrew Jackson led the American army to a victory. On the other hand Sir Edward Pakenham led the british to a loss. Pakenham was forced to surrender. But little did they know two weeks earlier the treaty of ghent was signed to end the war.
