    Another Dutch Man, Dirk Hartog, accidentally landed in Shark Bay, Western Australia.
  • Coast of Australia

    In 1699, William Dampier (A british Man) explored and charted the Northern coast of Australia
  • Captain Cook lands in Australia

    In 1770, Captain James cook arrived in Australia, along with his ship. Once landed, he explored and mapped the Eastern Coast of Australia, claiming it for Britain.
  • The Departure

    Captain Arthur Phillip gathered all the convicts and people they were taking to Botany Bay and eventually set sail towards Australia.
  • First Settlement of Australia

    In 1788, Captain Arthur Phillip, (a British man) established the first Settlement of Britain on Australia.
  • Pemulwuy Rebellion

    Pemulwuy, an Aboriginal warrior, started to oppose the invasion of European settlers onto his people's ancestral grounds two years after the First Fleet arrived. Despite suffering a terrible injury in 1797, he evaded capture until he was killed by gunfire in 1802. Sir Joseph Banks received Pemulwuy's severed head as part of his collection.
  • Discovery of Australia being an Island

    In 1803, English navigator, Matthew Flinders, discovered that Australia was an island after sailing along the border of Australia. During this, he became the first person to refer to our country as Australia.
  • New Zealand Independance

    In 1841, New Zealand became its own colony, seperate from New South Wales.
