    Decembrist Revolt
    A small group of nobles and military officers decided to try and overthrow the czar and set up a constitutional monarchy. This action failed and caused five officers to be executed and hundreds were sent into Siberia in exile.

    Nicholas II Becomes the Czar of Russia
    After his father's unexpected death in October of 1894, Nicholas II becomes the czar of Russia. He wasn't ready to become the czar and was quite surprised when his father died and found out that he would become the czar.

    Russia is wanting to expand its territory and wants to claim Korea. Then conflict happened when Japan also wanted it and they both fought over the territory. This lead to the Russo-Japanese war which ended up in Japan winning and winning the territory.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    In 1905, a group of unarmed women, children and men, lead by Father Georgi Gapon, marched to the czar's palace in St. Petersburg. They simply wanted to ask Czar Nicholas II for better working conditions, but instead it turned into a massacre where over 100 people died from armed soldiers in the palace.

    About a month after the assination of Franz Ferdinand, Russia joins the war because Germany declared war on them.
  • March Revolution

    March Revolution
    Since the World War, Russia has been in deep poverty along with a harsh winter. Supplies were extremely low and people couldn't afford food. Many workers asked for higher wages but were declined, which led to workers going on strike and employers locking out employees. This led to even more riots and people couldn't even afford any food now. After this rioters got even more angry and the Duma tried to do everything they could under Nicholas II's orders.

    Many people opposed Lenin and his Bolsheviks, so many people formed groups and tried to rule out Lenin's government with communism. There was the reds, who were against Lenin and the whites, who were in agreement with Lenin's ways.

    Many people were angry with Nicholas II's decisions and it caused many uproars. Nicholas and his family were murdered by the Bolsheviks in a house basement because they thought they were taking a family photo.

    The USSR, or the Soviet Union, is established making the government of Russia be controlled under communist rule. In decades to come, Russia will become one of the most powerful and influential states in the world, under this rule.

    Vladimir Lenin Dies
    After suffering many strokes, and after losing his ability to speak, Lenin died in a village. Before he passed though, he was beginnning to get disappointed in Joseph Stalin because of his growing power as the general secretary of the Communist Party.
