    Henry Parkes decided to make Australia one nation by coming up with the idea of bringing the six different colonies together,called federation.

    There was a referendum but nothing wsa decided or voted on.

    They redraft the constitution that wasn't voted on but the west finally joins the commonwealth.

    They were diciding if the redrafted constitution was good enough for the country.

    Queen Victoria Signs the new constitution act that was made Law.

    Lord Hopetoun declared federation of the six colonies in Centennial Park, Sydney. There was also the first sitting of parliament. Edmund Barton was the first prime minister of Australia.
