    The cotton gin was a machine that took the seeds from cotton. This machine helped cotton become one of America's greatest exports at the time. It strengthened the American economy. Also, this machine sparked the concept of American mass-production.

    In 1791, the whiskey tax was made, which was proposed by Alexander Hamilton. In July, 1794 a group of western Pennsylvanian farmers attacked and burned the house of a tax collector. On 14 October, 1794, George Washington sent militia to western Pennsylvania and the rebellion collasped.

    This treaty, negotiated by John Jay and Baron William Greenville, stated that the British had to remove the forts placed at the Northwestern frontier and compensate for the illegal capture of American ships and America's payment of prewar debts owed to British merchants. James Madison and Thomas Jefferson were the key people of the Democratic-Republicans who believed in strong state governments and a strict interpretation of the Constitution. In the Election of 1796, voters voted for different parties. This was the basis of political parties.

Napolean Bonaparte offers to sell the Louisiana Territory. Thomas Jefferson buys the Louisiana Territory from France, approximately 828,000,000 square miles, for fifteen million dollars.

    Lewis' and Clark Expedition
    Thomas Jefferson sends Meriwhether Lewis and William Clark to explore the new territory that was obtained through the Louisiana Territory. Lewis, Clark and the Corps of Discovery set out to explore from the mouth of the Missouri River. They stopped in many Native American villages, and ultimately reached the Pacific Ocean in Novermber, 1805! They came back in 1806 with many detailed maps and valuable information about the area.

    In the War of 1812, most Native Americans joined the British army and on 5 October, 1813 in the Battle of Thames, the troops led by Teumseh, lost to U.S troops and Tecumseh died in battle.

    After this treaty was signed, the War of 1812 ended. The treaty stated all conquered land was to be returned and plans were made to settle the boundary of U.S and Canada.

    U.S Secretary of State John Quincy Adams negotiates with Spanish minister Do Luis de Onis on the Florida Purchase Treaty on 22, February 1819. The U.S got Florida for no cost with the exception of five million dollars of claims made by U.S citizens against Spain.
