    The Compromise of 1820 was a bunch of congressional laws. The laws were to settle the big disagreement between free states. C.A, become a free state, and new fugitive slave law passed. Caused conflict by failing to resolve slavery issue.

    The Kansas-Nebraska Act was a law from 1854. The law proved that the territories of Kansas and Nabraska have the right to decide if they want to allow slavery or not. This art was all about slavery in Kansas and Nebraska.

    "Bleeding Kansas" was because proslaverey and antislavery settlers rushed into Kansas Territory to vote for territory legislation. The Abolitionist John Brown retaliates by murdering 5 proslavery people. Therefore a Civil War breaks out in Kansas, territory called Bleeding Kansas.

    The Caning of Sumner was when Charles Sumner gave the speache Against Kansas. The speach was sharply critical on a personal level. He supported popular Soverignty of the Kansas-Nebraska Act.Therefore Brooks struck the senator (Charles Sumner) repeatedly with a walking cane.

    Dred Scott was a slave in Missuri and was taken where slavery was illedal. Dred Scott sues for freedom and his case reached the Supreme Court. As a result of the case they allowed slavery to spread anywhere in the U.S territorys.

    Attack on Harpers Ferry
    John Brown wannted to inspire slaves to fight for their freedom. Brown was attacked at Harpers Ferry by the U.S. Marines. Brown and other men were captured and 10 were killed.

    Election of 1860
    Abraham Lincoln wins the election because he received the most electorial votes. As a result of this election South Carolina and then 6 other southern states decide to secede from the Union. Soon after they form the Confederate States of America.
