    Compromise of 1850
    The compromise was a plan to please the North. They pleased the north by admitting California as a free state and slave trade would be abolished in Washington D.C. They aslo wanted to please the south by having no laws would abolish slavery in territories.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    Kansas-Nebraska Act
    In 1854, senator Stephan A. Douglas of Illinois drafted a bill to organize territorial governments. So he proposed that it be divided into two territores - Nebraska and Kansas. Slavery would be decided by popular soverity.
  • "Bleeding Kansas"

    "Bleeding Kansas"
    Proslavery and antislavery settlers rushed into the Kansas Territory. During the time proslavey there were more proslavery settlers than antislavey settlers.But proslavey did not want to risk loosing the election. So five thousand Missourians came and vted in the election illegally. Antislavery boycotted the government and formed a government of their own. Later proslavey attacked offices and the house of the govern of the antislavery government. This continued and was known as "Bleeding Kansas"

    Dred Scott V. Sandford.
    Dred Scott was a slave in Missouri. His owner took him to a place where slavery was not allowed. Later he brings his territory back to Missouri. Dred scott has had enough and decides to sue for freedom. But Cheif Roger rules againts him and says that Sott is not a U.S citizen therefore he cannot sue. As a result of the case slavery was allowed to spread anywhere in the U.S territory.

    Attack on Harpers Ferry
    John Brown and a bunch of supporters raided the U.S arsenal at Harpers Ferry. The purpose that brown did this was to let the slaves stand up for their freedom. The raiders managed to take control of the arsenal but then later captured by the troops including John Brown. Later that month Brown was left dead hanging.
  • Election of 1860

    Election of 1860
    The elction was getting though and was turned into two races the North and the South. John Breckenridge wins the most wins in the South, but on the other hand Abraham Lincoln gets the most votes in the North. In the end Lincoln win the most electoral votes so he won the election and became the President of 1860. The only thing South feared was that Abraham would abolish slavery. In the end he didn't and the Southners succeded.
