    In my opinion, I think that Napoleon kind of did both, preserving the goals and ideals of the Revolution, but also destroying them at times. For example, he supported equality of all citizens before the law by enacting the Civil Code, which was based on many revolutionary principles. The Code also gave citizens the right to chose a profession, it introduced a higher tolerance for religion, and many other foundations. H
