    The first shots had been fired of the Mexican-American War in what is now Texas which led to President Polk to engage a War over Texas.
  • End of Mexican-American War

    End of Mexican-American War
    The conflict is over but the War officially ends with the signing of Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
  • Mexican Bankruptcy

    Mexican Bankruptcy
    Due to the Mexican-American War, Mexican Civil War, Reform Wars left the Mexican Treasury barely standing or without lots money.
  • The Liberating Proclamation

    The Liberating Proclamation
    Due to the multiple wars Mexico had recently fought they were in great debt. The president Benito Juárez issued a law saying that they wouldn't pay back their international debt for the next two years in order to rebuild the Mexican Fortune.
  • The beginning of the War

    Since Mexico stopped paying international countries back their debts, France, Britain, and Spain all sent Armies. Good news! Mexico talked down Britain and Spain from engaging war but, Bad news, Napoleon III commanded his forces to go and invade Mexico with 6,000 troops under the command of General Charles Latrille de Lorencez!! (cause that's not a long title)
  • The "War" has begun!

    The "War" has begun!
    Since France sent 6,000 troops to invade Mexico to expand the French empire across Mexico. Naturally Mexico will try and defend itself. The French first stormed Veracruz. After the had taken over the city, they then headed toward Puebla, where a Mexican force was headed.
  • The Battle (pt 1)

    The Battle (pt 1)
    The president of Mexico had ordered a "ragtag team" of 2,000 men under the command of General Ignacio Zaragoza to fight against the enemy (headed towards Puebla) of 6,000 men way over half of the Mexican troops. The "ragtag team" set up camp outside of Puebla and gave some heavy resistance to the seemingly strongest army of the world at the time.
  • The Celebration!

    The Celebration!
    Now this is after the Mexican army heavily destroyed the french army of 2,000 (Mexico) VS 6,000 (France) which is brutal for France. This victory highly boosted the low morale for Mexicans. The celebration known as Cinco de Mayo honors the men who died, and celebrate the fact that they won a seemingly impossible feat.
  • The Battle (pt 2)

    The Battle (pt 2)
    The battle lasted from "daybreak to early evening". The French retreated after loosing 500 men at the hands of the Mexicans who hadn't lost even 100 men.
